TARMO MANNI Memorial

Remembering the artist professor Tarmo Manni – in the form of a crying stone

The late artist professor and actor Tarmo Manni was born in Saarijärvi and he has a statue by a rapid, next to the Hernesalmi mill in Lannevesi. One of the elements of the monument is flowing water which can be seen during the summer season.

The work of art is made by academician, sculptor Kain Tapper and the original name of the statue is Itkevä kivi (Crying stone, year 2000).

A blue and white sign on the Jyväskylä-Uurainen-Saarijärvi road guides you towards Kiimasjärventie road which will take you to the statue which is located on the right, at approximately one kilometer on Napulanpolku.

Next to the statue is the Hernesalmi Mill, painted in traditional red ochre, which during the summer operates as a private cafeteria and restaurant. There is also a smoke sauna in the area.
